“Vikings: Valhalla” is a historical drama streaming television series created by Jeb Stuart for Netflix. Serving as a sequel to History’s “Vikings,” it is filmed in County Wicklow, Ireland, and set one hundred years after the events of the original series. The show explores the beginning of the end of the Viking Age, culminating in the Battle of Stamford Bridge in 1066. The series premiered on February 25, 2022. Initially announced with a 24-episode order in November 2019, it was officially renewed for a second and third season in March 2022.
“Vikings: Valhalla” portrays the intense conflicts between the Vikings and the English royals, as well as internal clashes among the Vikings over their Christian and Pagan beliefs. The story follows legendary figures such as Leif Erikson, Freydís Eiríksdóttir, and Harald Hardrada on their epic journeys across oceans and battlefields, from Kattegat to England and beyond, as they fight for survival and glory. The series captures the dramatic end of the Viking Age, highlighted by the pivotal Battle of Stamford Bridge in 1066.
