Aquaman 3 (2025)
“Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” is an upcoming American superhero film based on the DC Comics character Aquaman. Produced by DC Films, The Safran Company, and Atomic Monster Productions, and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, it serves as the sequel to the successful “Aquaman” (2018) and is the thirteenth installment in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). The film is directed by James Wan, known for his work on the first “Aquaman,” and features a screenplay by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick.
Starring Jason Momoa reprising his role as Arthur Curry / Aquaman, alongside Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Dolph Lundgren, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” continues the underwater adventures of the titular hero. Following the first film’s success, Momoa proposed ideas for the sequel during production. Director James Wan opted for a careful development process, ensuring a robust continuation of the storyline. He officially signed on to direct in August 2020, promising to expand upon the rich worldbuilding established in the original “Aquaman.”
Filming commenced in London in June 2021, and Wan announced the sequel’s title, “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” in June 2021. Set for release on December 16, 2022, the film is highly anticipated among fans of the DCEU, promising to delve deeper into the mythology and challenges faced by Arthur Curry as he navigates his dual life as a superhero and protector of Atlantis.
