The story takes place on Isla Nublar, where John Hammond’s dream of a fully functioning dinosaur theme park has become a reality. However, to maintain public interest, the park’s scientists, led by Dr. Henry Wu (BD Wong), have genetically engineered a new dinosaur species, the Indominus rex, a hybrid with enhanced features.
Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard), the park’s operations manager, oversees the park’s daily functions and is responsible for the introduction of the Indominus rex. Her nephews, Zach (Nick Robinson) and Gray (Ty Simpkins), visit the park just as the Indominus rex escapes from its enclosure, leading to chaos and destruction.
Owen Grady (Chris Pratt), a former Navy veteran and animal behavior expert who trains the park’s velociraptors, is called upon to help contain the situation. As the Indominus rex wreaks havoc across the island, Owen, Claire, and the park’s staff must work together to protect the visitors and prevent a catastrophe.
