The Little Mermaid (2023)

“The Little Mermaid” (2023) is a live-action adaptation of Disney’s beloved animated classic, directed by Rob Marshall. The film stars Halle Bailey as Ariel, the adventurous and spirited young mermaid who dreams of experiencing life on land.


Set in a vibrant underwater kingdom, the story follows Ariel, the youngest daughter of King Triton (played by Javier Bardem). Fascinated by the human world, Ariel makes a dangerous deal with the sea witch Ursula (Melissa McCarthy) to exchange her voice for human legs. Ariel’s goal is to win the heart of Prince Eric (Jonah Hauer-King) and live life on the surface, but she soon discovers that Ursula has her own sinister plans.


The film features iconic songs from the original 1989 animated movie, composed by Alan Menken with lyrics by Howard Ashman, as well as new music created by Menken and Lin-Manuel Miranda.
