Bait (2012)

“Bait” (2012) is an Australian-Singaporean horror-thriller directed by Kimble Rendall. The film combines elements of disaster and creature feature genres, delivering a unique survival story involving a deadly shark attack.

The plot centers on a coastal town that is hit by a massive tsunami, flooding a supermarket and trapping a group of people inside. As they struggle to find a way out, they discover that the floodwaters have also brought in a 12-foot great white shark. The survivors, including a former lifeguard named Josh (Xavier Samuel), his ex-girlfriend Tina (Sharni Vinson), and a few other locals, must band together to survive both the rising waters and the relentless predator that’s now hunting them.

The film is filled with tense moments as the group faces not only the shark but also other dangers like collapsing structures, dwindling supplies, and personal conflicts. The combination of a disaster scenario with a classic shark attack thriller makes Bait an exciting, if somewhat campy, ride for fans of creature horror.

While Bait received mixed reviews for its story and special effects, it gained attention for its unique premise and thrilling underwater sequences. It’s a blend of survival horror and adventure that offers a different twist on the shark attack genre.
