The Blackout (2019) is a Russian science fiction action film directed by Egor Baranov. Set in a dystopian future, the story begins when Earth experiences a mysterious blackout that affects most of the planet.

Only a small region in Eastern Europe, known as “The Circle of Life,” retains power and communication. As military forces and survivors from this area investigate, they discover that humanity outside of the circle has been wiped out.

The survivors soon learn that the blackout was caused by an unknown alien force preparing for an invasion.

The film follows the struggle between the remaining humans and the extraterrestrial threat as they fight to defend their last stronghold on Earth.
