Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007) is a dark, gothic musical film directed by Tim Burton, based on the Tony Award-winning musical by Stephen Sondheim.
The movie tells the story of Benjamin Barker, a London barber who is wrongfully imprisoned by a corrupt judge. After escaping 15 years later, Barker returns to London under the alias Sweeney Todd, seeking revenge on the judge who destroyed his life and separated him from his wife and daughter.
With the help of Mrs. Lovett, a pie shop owner, Sweeney Todd opens a barber shop where he begins to exact his bloody vengeance by killing his unsuspecting customers. Mrs. Lovett helps him dispose of the bodies by using them as ingredients for her meat pies, which become disturbingly popular.
