Masters of the Universe (1987)

Masters of the Universe is a 1987 science fiction fantasy film directed by Gary Goddard, based on the popular Mattel toy line and animated series of the same name. The film stars Dolph Lundgren as He-Man, the heroic defender of the planet Eternia, and Frank Langella as Skeletor, his evil nemesis.
The story begins as Skeletor seizes control of Castle Grayskull, the source of He-Man’s power, and plans to conquer the universe.
To prevent this, He-Man, along with his allies Teela (Chelsea Field) and Man-At-Arms (James Tolkan), travels to Earth through a magical portal in search of a powerful cosmic key that can restore balance.
On Earth, they team up with two teenagers, Julie (Courteney Cox) and Kevin (Robert Duncan McNeill), who help them in their quest against Skeletor’s forces.

The film is known for its campy special effects, ambitious set designs, and action sequences, though it diverges significantly from the source material and received mixed reviews from critics and fans.

Despite this, Masters of the Universe remains a nostalgic piece of 1980s pop culture and a cult favorite among fans of the franchise.
