Abigail (2019) is a visually stunning Russian fantasy adventure film set in a mysterious world where a strange disease has locked an entire city away from the rest of the world for many years. The film follows Abigail (Tanya Bobrovnikova), a young girl who discovers that she has the ability to control mysterious powers tied to the disease that has ravaged her city.

The story takes place in the city of Fals, a walled-off metropolis where, for years, a mysterious disease has been spreading, infecting and killing the inhabitants. The city is isolated from the outside world, and the people living there are cut off from any hope of a cure or salvation. Abigail’s life has been marked by the absence of her mother, who disappeared when Abigail was a child under mysterious circumstances. Abigail is raised by her father, who has become a high-ranking official in the city.

As Abigail grows older, she begins to experience strange occurrences—her body sometimes reacts to situations in ways that others cannot explain. These powers are linked to the forbidden magic that was once used by her mother, a secret known only to a few.

Abigail embarks on a journey to uncover the truth about her mother’s disappearance and the source of her powers. Along the way, she becomes entangled in a political struggle involving powerful figures who have their own agendas regarding the disease and the mysterious forces that control the city.

Abigail’s discovery of her true origins leads her to the realization that her abilities are tied to the very disease that plagues the city. She is faced with a dilemma: will she embrace her powers to save the city, or will they destroy everything she holds dear? As Abigail delves deeper into the world of magic and political intrigue, she must navigate a complex web of secrets, lies, and dangerous forces in order to find her mother and uncover the truth about her own destiny.

The film combines elements of fantasy and science fiction with a dramatic coming-of-age story. The themes of power, corruption, and self-discovery are central to the plot, as Abigail must come to terms with the complex nature of her abilities and the choices she must make for the greater good.
