Cliffhanger is a high-octane action thriller directed by Renny Harlin, starring Sylvester Stallone as Gabe Walker, a seasoned mountain rescue ranger who becomes entangled in a dangerous game of survival after a heist goes wrong on a treacherous mountain in the Rocky Mountains.

The film opens with a tragic accident during a mountain rescue mission. Gabe is forced to make a life-altering decision when a fellow ranger, his close friend, falls to his death during a daring rescue attempt. Gabe is left with survivor’s guilt, retreating from mountain rescue work and leaving behind his former girlfriend, Jessie (Janine Turner), who was also involved in the failed rescue.

The story picks up months later when Gabe is drawn back into action after a botched robbery on a plane carrying millions of dollars in cash.
