Occupation Rainfall (2020)

Watch:
Occupation: Rainfall is a gripping science fiction action film set in the aftermath of an alien invasion that devastates Australia. The story picks up two years after the initial attack, when Earth’s defenders are caught in an ongoing struggle to survive. The alien forces, known as the “Ascendants,” have ravaged the planet, and humanity is on the brink of extinction. Australia, in particular, has become a war zone, with its people trying to hold out against an overpowering alien occupation.
The film follows a group of survivors, including soldier Matt Simmons (Dan Ewing) and resistance fighter Amelia (Stephanie Jacobsen), as they fight to resist the alien occupiers. Their primary goal is to free their homeland from the Ascendants’ oppressive rule and find a way to push back the alien forces. Amid their struggle, they uncover a startling truth: the aliens may not be as malevolent as they appear, and the war may be more complex than they initially believed.
As the human resistance mounts an attack against a key alien installation, they encounter strange technologies, an alien ally (Temuera Morrison), and a threat far more dangerous than anything they could have imagined. They must decide whether to continue their fight for survival or consider a more dangerous, unexpected alliance that could alter the course of the war.
The film is filled with visually stunning landscapes and gritty combat scenes, with extensive use of CGI to bring the alien invasion to life. The cinematography captures the devastation of Earth, with destroyed cities, abandoned landscapes, and remnants of civilization scattered across the environment. The action sequences are intense and fast-paced, with large-scale battles and intricate alien technology that enhances the stakes. Director Luke Sparke effectively builds tension through both visceral fight scenes and quieter, more reflective moments that examine the psychological toll of war.
