Alita: Battle Angel (2019)

Alita: Battle Angel (2019) is a science fiction action film directed by Robert Rodriguez and produced by James Cameron and Jon Landau. The movie is based on Yukito Kishiro’s manga series “Gunnm” (also known as “Battle Angel Alita”). The screenplay was written by James Cameron and Laeta Kalogridis.
Set in a dystopian future, the story follows Alita (Rosa Salazar), a cyborg who is discovered in a scrapyard by Dr. Dyson Ido (Christoph Waltz), a compassionate cyber-surgeon.
Ido rebuilds Alita, who has no memory of her past but possesses exceptional combat skills. As Alita embarks on a journey to discover her identity, she navigates the dangerous streets of Iron City and becomes entangled in conflicts involving bounty hunters and a powerful organization controlling the city.
Throughout the film, Alita uncovers fragments of her past and realizes she is more powerful than she ever imagined. With the help of her friends, including Hugo (Keean Johnson) and Dr. Ido, she takes on formidable foes and strives to protect those she cares about while seeking the truth about her origins.
Alita: Battle Angel combines stunning visual effects, thrilling action sequences, and a heartfelt narrative. The film received praise for its groundbreaking CGI, particularly in bringing the character of Alita to life, and for its faithful adaptation of the source material. It also explores themes of self-discovery, humanity, and the fight for justice in a harsh and oppressive world.
