THE CONJURING 4 (2024)

“The Conjuring,” released in 2013, is an American supernatural horror film directed by James Wan and written by Chad Hayes and Carey W. Hayes. It marks the beginning of the Conjuring Universe franchise. Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga star as Ed and Lorraine Warren, renowned paranormal investigators and authors known for their involvement in prominent haunting cases. Their real-life reports served as the inspiration for both The Amityville Horror story and subsequent film adaptations.
The story revolves around the Warrens coming to the aid of the Perron family, who encounter increasingly disturbing events in their Rhode Island farmhouse in 1971.
Development for the film started in January 2012, with James Wan confirmed as director for a project initially titled “The Warren Files,” later renamed “The Conjuring.” The film focuses on the alleged real-life experiences of Ed and Lorraine Warren, portrayed by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, respectively. Filming commenced in Wilmington, North Carolina, in February 2012, with scenes shot in chronological order.
“The Conjuring” premiered in the United States and Canada on July 19, 2013, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema. It garnered positive reviews from critics for its performances, direction, screenplay, atmosphere, and musical score. The film achieved significant commercial success, grossing over $319 million worldwide against a modest budget of $20 million. A sequel, “The Conjuring 2,” followed on June 10, 2016.
