Snowpiercer (2020)

“Snowpiercer” (2020) is a post-apocalyptic science fiction television series based on the 2013 film Snowpiercer, directed by Bong Joon-ho, and the 1982 French graphic novel Le Transperceneige. The series is developed by Josh Friedman and Graeme Manson and stars Jennifer Connelly and Daveed Diggs.
Set seven years after a failed climate experiment turned the world into a frozen wasteland, the remaining survivors live aboard a perpetually moving train called Snowpiercer, which endlessly circles the globe.
The train is divided by class, with the wealthy elite living in luxury at the front, while the lower-class passengers endure harsh conditions in the tail.
The series follows Layton (Daveed Diggs), a former detective from the tail section, who leads a rebellion against the strict social order imposed by Melanie Cavill (Jennifer Connelly), the train’s head of hospitality and the mysterious figure running the train.

As tensions rise, the show explores themes of class struggle, social injustice, and survival, blending action, drama, and mystery. Snowpiercer combines intense storytelling with a unique setting, offering a thought-provoking exploration of humanity under extreme conditions. The series has been praised for its performances, world-building, and the way it expands on the original film’s premise, while also introducing new characters and plotlines.
