In this spine-chilling reimagining of the 1981 cult classic, The Queen of Black Magic delves into a tale of vengeance, guilt, and the supernatural.
The story follows Hanif (Ario Bayu), a man who returns to the orphanage where he was raised, accompanied by his wife Nadya (Hannah Al Rashid) and their three children. The visit is intended to pay respects to Mr. Bandi (Yayu A.W. Unru), the ailing caretaker who was like a father to Hanif and his childhood friends, Anton (Tanta Ginting) and Jefri (Miller Khan).
The reunion starts as a nostalgic journey into the past but quickly takes a sinister turn. The orphanage, nestled in a remote countryside, begins to show signs that its secrets have festered over the years. As night falls, inexplicable phenomena begin to unravel. Strange apparitions, horrifying injuries, and the unearthing of buried memories create an atmosphere of mounting dread.
Hanif and his friends discover that their visit has awakened a malevolent force tied to the orphanage’s dark history—a tale of abuse, betrayal, and unimaginable cruelty.
At the center of this chaos is the vengeful spirit of a woman wronged by the very people they thought they could trust. This entity, the titular Queen of Black Magic, seeks not only revenge but justice for the atrocities committed.
The characters are forced to confront their darkest fears and hidden guilt as the truth of their past actions comes to light. The once-safe walls of the orphanage become a living nightmare as the families must fight to survive, battling both the relentless spirit and their own inner demons.
